State Police made seven arrests, issued 20 criminal summons and 74 warnings, and issued 232 civil citations last weekend as part of an operation targeting “illegal street takeovers,” the Healey administration said Thursday.
Gov. Maura Healey and State Police Superintendent Col. Geoffrey Noble are due to discuss the enforcement actions with the media at a noon press conference.
Last week, Healey pledged “zero tolerance” for the growing wave of coordinated drag racing and mass car rallies that erupted across Massachusetts and made headlines earlier this month. She said last week that she had “specifically asked Colonel Noble to work operationally” to assist local police responses to street takeovers.
